I’ve played the harp since 1990. My first harp teacher was the late Dorothy Place Barrows. She sent me to the summer harp colony in Camden, Maine, where I took lessons from Alice Chalifoux, and debated about whether to change my hand position (since there's more than one way to play the harp, just as there are different kinds of harps and strings). I decided not to, so I went to Tufts University where I received a Bachelor’s degree in music. At Tufts, I continued harp with Mary Jane Rupert, and in classes I studied composition and world music, giving me a varied background including many influences from ethnic traditions to modernist minimalism. I continue to explore the harp through workshops given by expert, innovative and well known harp players, as well as pursue new musical ideas. I’m a member of the American Harp Society as well as the International Society of Folk Harpers and Craftsman. I have performed at Fall River First Night, New Bedford AHA! Night, The Irish Connections Festival, the Rhode Island Scottish Highland Festival, the Scotland Connecticut Highland Festival, as well as weddings and cocktail parties. _________________________________________ It was the perfect touch to such an idyllic setting. Thank you for being a special part of our wedding day. — Leslee
You did a beautiful selection of songs. The guests loved the harp and all of the music. This made for such a nice atmosphere. —Erin
